Since 1983, IAF grantee partner Centro de Investigación, Diseño Artesenal y Comercialización Comunitaria (CIDAC) has worked to improve the workmanship and income of hundreds of Guaraní, Weehhawek, Ayoreo, and other indigenous and mestizo artisans in eastern Bolivia. With CIDAC’s training and technical assistance, craftsmen and women refine their skills in pottery-making, woodcarving, weaving and other handicrafts, enhancing both the quantity and quality of their products.
By 2007, CIDAC’s members grossed more than $300,000 in sales for their products in stores they manage. Profits were distributed among 1,300 producers and supported community projects. Moreover, ARTECAMPO’s handicrafts have been showcased in Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Spain and the United States.
